Judy Schultze of Windy Oaks Estate Vineyards emailed to remind me that the charmingly rustic facility — which just squeaked through the recent south county fires unscathed — will be open during the rest of June (hurry!) for tastings of what many argue is one of the top Pinot Noirs in California.
That would be the wine made by Jim Schultze from estate grapes in limited, delicious batches.
There’s also a rather remarkable Chardonnay made from estate grapes — try them all.
Saturdays, 1-4pm for the next 11 days! – $10 tasting fee for non-club members. See the website for map and directions. I just flew back from San Diego this morning and was able to get a very close look at where that Corralitos fire was – all along a single ridge, burned down to charred tree trunks and maroon scorched earth. Eerie.
